OPEN LAB DIY
What is Open Lab DIY?
Open Lab DIY is a hands-on learning community fpr people who own a house or are thinking about buying a house and want to learn some of the hands on skills to take care of a property.
You can access training to help you develop the confidence to manage house maintenance porjects. We designed Open Lab DIY with new homeowners and soon-to-be homeowners in mind, but anyone 18 years of age and older (14-17 year-olds allowed if accompanied by a parent) is welcome. This workshop series is designed to fit your budget, schedule, and specific interests. We start with basic training, and provide flexibilty that allows the learner to help determine what is emphasized in each training.
What kinds of things can I do in Open Lab DIY?
- Learn new hands-on skill and tool use and safety
- Get help with a tiling project
- Learn basic woodworking skills
- Learn how to frame doors and windows
- Learn how to do simple fixes and when you should call an licensed expert for electrical and plumbing issues
- Learn what your home inpection report might have left out
- Get help designing projects
- Furniture upholstery

What is the cost?
You can test out Open Lab DIY for as little as $39. If you like what you see, that initial fee can be used to reduce the cost of punch card that gives you access to additional sessions. Pricing is subject to change with 60-day prior notice. Refer to pricing menu for details and class schedule for time and date of specific sessions.

OPEN LAB for Digital Literacy
What is Open Lab?
Open Lab was designed to help you bridge gaps in your digital literacy skills in a manner that fits your budget, schedule, and specific learning needs. We combine a variety of online classes with face-to-face tutoring and coaching to meet this goal. In addition to working with individuals, we also create plans for small employers with limited training budgets to help their employees improve digital literacy skills. You are not tied to rigid class schedules, unless that is what you want.
What kinds of things can I get help with through Open Lab?
We say BYOC -- bring your own challenge!
- Overcome fear of computers.
- Add Microsoft office certifications to your resume.
- Learn how to get the most out of your smart phone.
- Get help with making a list of question to ask before you buy a new computer.
- Learn tips on how to surf the web safely.
- Learn how to take great pictures with your digital camera.
- Interested in studying at Clover Park and need help brushing up on math and English before you start? We can help with that, too.
We operate with a "no-wrong-door" policy. If Open Lab isn't the right solution for you, but Clover Park has other options that may be useful, we will help connect you to the right person.
Is Open Lab available to the general public or just students registered in Clover Park programs?
Open Lab was developed with the local community and small employers in mind. For students registered in Clover Park programs we offer services that enhance those provided through the College's Tutoring Center.
What is the cost?
You can test out open lab for as little as $60. If you like what you see, that initial fee can be used to reduce the cost of punch card that gives you access to additional services through scheduled walk-in sessions or one-on-one sessions with a tutor. Online courses start as low as $100 for six-week classes such as Microsoft Office courses. Bundled and group pricing is available. Pricing is subject to change with 30-day prior notice.

Open Lab DIY Tiny House

Want to learn how to build your own tiny house? No Experience necessary. Students will learn the basics of blue-print reading, framing, sheathing/flashing, roofing, electrical, plumbing, tiling, dry-walling, window and door installation.
Bring your own plans to life or learn to create your own design using AutoCAD or other industry-standard software. Schedule of sessions coming soon.
Pricing: Open Lab was designed to be flexible for your schedule and for you wallet. Sign up for one session to try it out. If you like it sign up for additional sessions at a discount or purchase multiple sessions at once. A punch card with multple sessions can be purchased for future sessions. You are not locked into a rigid schedule.
